A performance intervention in the land of profile photos on Facebook, ‘Bite Me’ began in 2007 at the start of the social media age in response to a friend’s paralysis at having to be represented by a single image.

The intervention endured through the advent of mysogynist blogs like “women eating on the tube” and concluded in late 2017 with the restaging, with Brian Lobel, of a press release image from ‘Pastry Portait’, performance artist Marina Abramovic’s commercial partnership with La Durée.
